Patents are protected within the borders of the country, where the patent is granted. For this reason, the patent/utility model applications filed in Turkey are only valid within the territory of Turkey. If the protection is requested in foreign countries, national or international patent applications may be filed.

The national applications are provided with the applications filed through the national patent offices. 

Community patent applications are filed through the central offices which the communities are members of.
